How Credits Work
Magellan Data uses a simple, transparent credit system that gives you complete control over your data enrichment costs. Credits are the currency you use to unlock enrichment reports.
The Basics
What are credits?
Credits are units you use to access enrichment data. Each type of report has a per-record credit cost, and you only pay for the data we successfully find and return.
How do I get credits?
New users receive 10,000 free credits when they sign up with no credit card required. After that, you can purchase additional credits in bulk packages ranging from 25,000 to 1,000,000 credits.
Do credits expire?
No. Once purchased, your credits never expire. Buy in bulk and use them whenever you need them. They will always be available in your account.
How Credit Costs Work
You Only Pay for Results
The most important thing to understand: you only use credits for data we successfully find and return.
Here's how it works:
- Upload your CSV file with company data
- We analyze your file and generate available reports
- Before you pay anything, we show you exactly how many matches we found in each report
- You review the quote and decide which reports to purchase
- Credits are only deducted for the records where we found data
Example: Upload 100 companies and request the Parent Companies report. If we find parent companies for 60 of those records, you'll only use credits for those 60 matches, not the full 100.
Report Pricing
Each report type has a different per-record cost:
Data Enrichment Reports (70 credits per record)
- Parent Companies: Identifies the parent entity for each company
- Private Equity Owners: Reveals which companies are PE-backed and identifies their PE firm
Pipeline Expansion Reports (20 credits per record)
- Corporate Families: Returns all parents, subsidiaries, and sister companies for matched records
- Private Equity Portfolios: Returns all portfolio companies owned by the same PE firms
Why the Different Pricing?
Data enrichment reports (Parent Companies and PE Owners) add new information directly to your existing list, enriching each record. These cost 70 credits per match.
Pipeline expansion reports (Corporate Families and PE Portfolios) discover related companies you didn't know about, expanding your total addressable market. Because these reports can return hundreds of new opportunities from a small input list, they're priced at 20 credits per record discovered.

Credits are available in six package sizes. The more you buy, the more you save:

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I run out of credits?
You can purchase additional credits at any time. Your existing reports remain available in your dashboard, and you can buy more credits whenever you're ready to process new lists.
Can I see the cost before I commit?
Yes. After uploading your file, we show you exactly how many matches we found and the total credit cost for each available report. You decide which reports to unlock. No surprises, no hidden charges.
Do I need a subscription?
No. Magellan Data has no subscriptions, no monthly fees, and no contracts. You simply buy credits when you need them and use them at your own pace.
What if some records in my upload don't have matches?
You only pay for successful matches. If we upload 100 records and find data for 40, you only use credits for those 40 records.
Can I combine multiple reports?
Absolutely. You can run as many different reports as you want on the same upload. Each report is priced separately, and you choose which ones to unlock.
